[02:47]<Tux2> Some people, blaming my plugin for their mistakes: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/multiinv/tickets/256-inventories-swapping-too-late-not-on-join-trough-portals/
[02:48]<@BC_Programming> What else is new lol
[02:50]<Tux2> lol, I went and spent 20 minutes diagnosing and trying to find the bug and I couldn't reproduce it because he had a configuration error.
[02:56]<@BC_Programming> hmm there are some more 5 dollar buy-it-now "broken/for parts" gamecubes on ebay
[02:56]<Tux2> Oooh! I should get one for myself and fix it
[02:56]<@BC_Programming> I feel like I had a superpower fixing the other two I bought that were sold as broken
[02:57]<@BC_Programming> though maybe they just didn't have a gamebit to open it
[02:57]<Tux2> lol
[02:57]<@BC_Programming> aaaand the listing is gone, lol
[02:58]<@BC_Programming> I like the listings that just staple "RARE" on the end
[03:02]<@BC_Programming> hooray I fixed the jenkins build, now it will stop spamming the mailing list
[03:05]<Tux2> :D
[03:05]<Tux2> Jenkins build of what?
[03:05]<@BC_Programming> Work projects
[03:06]<@BC_Programming> it builds everything, creates installers, and then uploads them to our updater database
[03:07]<@BC_Programming> I finally get to "unveil" it next week in a demo
[03:07]<@BC_Programming> though at this point anybody who breaks a build will know about it
[03:09]<@BC_Programming> I was going to repurpose the Jenkins I still have installed on my old PC that I used for testing it before moving it to our server to build my own stuff but haven't sorted that out yet. I figure my old computer should do something useful

[15:31]<@BC_Programming> I've ordered the new laptop finally
[15:32]<Tux2> Yay!
[15:33]<@BC_Programming> Oh right you weren't here when I was babbling about that for the last few months
[15:34]<Tux2> lol, yeah, I know, I've been absent in IRC for quite a while
[15:34]<@BC_Programming> Core i7 5600U@3.2Ghz, 15.5" 2880x1620 Multi-touch display, 16GB DDR3 RAM
[15:35]<Tux2> Wow, nice! How much?
[15:36]<@BC_Programming> $2,529.07
[15:36]<@BC_Programming> CDN so that's like 10 dollars american
[15:37]<@BC_Programming> replacing my L300 from 2008 and doing so in style, It's a Thinkpad T550
[15:37]<@BC_Programming> Lenovo almost changed my mind when my session expired right near the end and I had to start over
[15:40]<+camerongray> Nice!
[15:41]<+camerongray> Yeah, their site is terrible at times
[15:41]<@BC_Programming> It said my session expired from 30 minutes of inactivity which wasn't right at all
[15:42]<+camerongray> haha, sounds like it
[15:42]<+camerongray> What did you do for batteries? Max it out?
[15:42]<@BC_Programming> it didn't really have any added options for batteries
[15:42]<@BC_Programming> it had two battery options and they were both selected by default as I recall
[15:43]<@BC_Programming> I guess I could have removed one but I left them
[15:43]<@BC_Programming> supposedly 8 hours battery life or something ridiculous
[15:46]<@BC_Programming> Now my only concern is that I've forgotten what the most I can use from my bank account was
[15:46]<+camerongray> Ahh, basically the internal one is always 3 cell, the external is 3 by default but can be upgraded to 6
[15:47]<@BC_Programming> I imagine they can be purchased separately as well?
[15:48]<@BC_Programming> because I could always do that. I don't really use my laptop(s) on battery power for a very long time though so probably best to be conservative on that front
[15:52]<@BC_Programming> have you ever ordered off their site camerongray?
[15:52]<+camerongray> Yeah, bought mine through them
[15:53]<@BC_Programming> T550 also?
[15:53]<+camerongray> Nah, T440s
[15:53]<@BC_Programming> oh get on my level pleb
[15:53]<+camerongray> haha!
[15:53]<@BC_Programming> Those are actually pretty affordable now that they have new models
[15:54]<@BC_Programming> I should expand my "Broken things to try to buy" list to old laptops as well
[15:58]<+camerongray> Ahh, I bought mine ages ago :P
[15:58]<+camerongray> So it was still bloody expensive
[15:58]<+camerongray> I just got a new toy though - Compaq Portable II :P
[15:58]<@BC_Programming> is that one of the ones where "Luggable" was a better description
[15:58]<+camerongray> Yeah
[15:59]<@BC_Programming> with the tiny little crt in them? those are funny
[15:59]<+camerongray> 286, 2.5mb RAM (with a 2mb expansion ISA card), 10mb HDD
[15:59]<+camerongray> Yeah, 9" Green phosphor CRT
[16:00]<@BC_Programming> so 640K conventional, 1408K Extended, and 2560K Expanded?
[16:00]<@BC_Programming> hmm no I got that backwards
[16:01]<@BC_Programming> 640K conventional 1920K Extended and 2048K Expanded
[16:01]<+camerongray> Hmm, not sure
[16:01]<@BC_Programming> that is actually pretty decked out for one of those systems I think
[16:01]<+camerongray> All I know is that it has 640k onboard and then the 2mb card
[16:01]<@BC_Programming> well the expansion ISA would be EMS
[16:01]<+camerongray> Yeah, it's very packed
[16:01]<@BC_Programming> oooh
[16:01]<@BC_Programming> I thought they were separate
[16:01]<+camerongray> It could go up to just over 4mb AFAIK
[16:01]<@BC_Programming> so probably 1MB on the system (640K +384K HMA) and then the 2MB Expanded
[16:02]<+camerongray> ahh, maybe
[16:02]<+camerongray> Still has a free 8-bit ISA slot so I may stick a network card or something in that for fun
[16:05]<@BC_Programming> I've looked at sone old systems on ebay before
[16:05]<@BC_Programming> but getting them shipped is always expensive
[16:05]<@BC_Programming> old stuff is always so heavy and big :P
[16:07]<+camerongray> Yeah
[16:07]<+camerongray> This was a good deal, got it for £60 including shipping
[16:07]<+camerongray> £44 for the machine itself
[16:09]<@BC_Programming> yeah on ebay just looking at 286 machines I see the Compaq Portable II somebody has listed for $359... with an added $299 shipping. Why do I think that won't sell?
[16:10]<+camerongray> haha
[16:10]<+camerongray> Yeah, the issue is people list them as "collectors items" for silly prices
[16:10]<@BC_Programming> yeah this one has "RARE" in the listing of course
[16:11]<@BC_Programming> you see that for games
[16:11]<@BC_Programming> I mean people list SUper Mario World, which is pretty much the most common SNES game ever, as "RARE"
[16:11]<+camerongray> Yeah
[16:11]<+camerongray> Mine is hardly collectors condition, has a few chips and scrapes on it, but it works fine and will look decent with a good clean
[16:11]<@BC_Programming> pretty sure "released with every system for the first 5 years of the system" doesn't translate to "RARE" lol
[17:23]<Tux2> lol, it's called marketing to those people who don't know any better, or noobs
[17:24]<@BC_Programming> Then again it's not like the opposite doesn't happen, where people sell stuff for far less than it is actually worth
[17:24]<@BC_Programming> like selling 2 gamecubes for 5 bucks because they think they are broken :P
[17:28]<Tux2> lol, yup
[18:14]<Tux2> In other news I'm getting a Sprint iPhone 5 in exchange for some work I did for a friend... Going to experiment with developing stuff for iPhones as well.
[18:15]<@BC_Programming> neat
[18:15]<@BC_Programming> I look at getting a smartphone sometimes... then I see the prices and go nope
[18:15]<@BC_Programming> (says person who dropped 2K+ on a laptop, sush)
[18:16]<@BC_Programming> speaking of, looks like they were able to take my money
[18:17]<@BC_Programming> Tux2 how will that work? is it on a contract or anything like that?
[18:18]<Tux2> BC_Programming: nope, no contract. It's a used iPhone that a friend bought, and Sprint refuses to unlock it and Boost Mobile refuses to activate it for my friend.
[18:19]<Tux2> So, since he got it for free he's giving it to me in exchange for some work I did for a client of his and he's going to buy a new smart phone.
[18:19]<@BC_Programming> oh I see- does that mean you'll only be able to use wifi?
[18:19]<Tux2> Yup, wifi only
[18:20]<Tux2> I don't plan on activating it, just using it as a device to develop on.
[18:21]<@BC_Programming> yeah makes sense
[18:21]<Tux2> If I ever needed to use data on it when out and about I'd just use the hotspot on my android device with it.
[18:21]<@BC_Programming> but of course on the other hand... you could just use the android device heh :P
[18:22]<Tux2> lol, exactly!
[18:23]<Tux2> Every time someone comes to me with the argument that the iPhone is better than Android I give them one simple assignment: download a zip file, extract it, then upload it to an FTP folder. They always fight it for 30 minutes before coming up with a clunky and clumsy system that still doesn't work right.
[18:23]<@BC_Programming> I have no horse in that race :P
[18:24]<Tux2> lol, for me I just use what works. If apple showed to me it was the superior device and worked with everything I wanted it to I would think about switching.
[18:25]<Tux2> I have given every version of Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux a fair shot on my computers and I keep going back to Linux.
[19:06]<+camerongray> Yeah, I don't really care what people use, there is no "best" - It's all down to personal preference
[19:11]<Tux2> lol, of course I always tease the people downstairs about using macs, but it's just in jest.
[19:15]<@BC_Programming> heh like "I looked it up on my computer" "oh? I thought you had a mac?"
[19:16]<+camerongray> It's like in CH when you get people "I don't fix Macs"
[19:16]<+camerongray> They are virtually the same as half the modern day PCs!
[19:17]<@BC_Programming> or Patio who calls it a MAC
[19:17]<+camerongray> haha!
[19:17]<+camerongray> DB does that too
[19:17]<+camerongray> Well MAC,,,1,1 ,
[19:17]<@BC_Programming> Always in caps. What do they think it stands for?
[19:17]<+camerongray> I do love the "Macs are overpriced" excuse as well
[19:17]<@BC_Programming> I'm waiting for somebody to ask for network help and talk about "MAC Addresses" and have then say "We don't help with MACs"
[19:18]<+camerongray> Compare the price of a Mac to a similarly specced, high end laptop, it'll be around the same
[19:18]<+camerongray> Hell, I bet your ThinkPad cost more than a similarly specced mac
[19:18]<@BC_Programming> hey them's fighting words
[19:19]<@BC_Programming> I don't think all the options available on the thinkpad were available on the Mac
[19:19]<+camerongray> Well, not things like the fingerprint reader or smartcard I suppose
[19:19]<+camerongray> But for the specs.etc
[19:19]<@BC_Programming> or Trackpoint :P
[19:19]<+camerongray> Ahh yeah, of course
[19:20]<@BC_Programming> Actually now I'm curious, I'll see what a similar specced Mac would be
[19:20]<@BC_Programming> you would think I did that comparison before
[19:20]<+camerongray> It's when people are like "But see, the Mac with this spec is £1000, you can get an Acer with the same spec for £400"
[19:20]<@BC_Programming> but not much. Also, when I realized that I wouldn't probably have to use iTunes that was a big point against it
[19:20]<+camerongray> And I'm like, err... Build quality, support, screen, battery life
[19:22]<@BC_Programming> seems pretty similar when you balance out the mismatched specs
[19:22]<+camerongray> Yep
[19:23]<@BC_Programming> 2.2Ghz i7, 16GB RAM, 256GB PCIe SATA, Intel graphics for 2,449 which is around the same I paid
[19:23]<+camerongray> They are actuallly relatively competitive, people just look at the CPU and RAM and nothing else
[19:23]<@BC_Programming> that and Apple doesn't sell crappy value laptops
[19:23]<@BC_Programming> 'OMGZ YOU CAN GET A LAPTOP
[19:24]<@BC_Programming> for only 300 dollars!'
[19:24]<@BC_Programming> well yeah... but whether you'll be able to do anything useful with it is another matter entirely
[19:25]<@BC_Programming> It's like that Lenovo I fixed a month or so ago... 2GB of RAM and an incredibly slow dual core processor. Lookint it up it was around $250 bucks
[19:25]<@BC_Programming> but considering my $700 laptop from 2008 outperformed it I'm not really sure if it was actually a good value
[19:32]<Tux2> lol, I broke the Windows 10 Insider Preview installer....
[19:33]<@BC_Programming> Windows update on my other system (with Win10) only works half the time
[19:33]<@BC_Programming> I think 10074 is the latest build though- I actually never know since it takes like a week for it to decide it can update
[19:34]<Tux2> lol, on the step to setup an account I pressed the option that said I didn't have a microsoft account, so it went to a white screen with a waiting symbol on it that never completed...
[19:34]<Tux2> I had to reset the computer...
[19:35]<@BC_Programming> I'm still using a @hotmail address for that heh
[19:38]<Tux2> lol, I do have a microsoft account, it's just I'd rather not have that tied in with my computer.
[19:40]<Tux2> I'm still waiting for the anti-trust lawsuit that will bring the local account option back to the forefront
[20:00]<Tux2> lol, explorer crashed and I wasn't even out of the windows 10 setup yet...
[20:04]<@BC_Programming> hmm interesting, I got a Copyright Notice from my ISP, forwarded from some toolbag
[20:04]<@BC_Programming> however I looked into it and it looks like this has been mostly a scam that misuses and misquotes Canadian copyright law as well as misusing the provisions that an ISP must forward pretty much any notice even if it contains outright false information
[20:09]<@BC_Programming> They did a very good job though- they actually had me going for a second
[20:10]<Tux2> Ha ha!

[20:49]<@BC_Programming> lol there are some people getting the notices that reference a Linux ISO as the infringment
[20:58]<Tux2> ROFL!
[20:59]<@BC_Programming> I think it must be one of those legal trolls- technically the E-mail also says that I really should pay them a settlement since otherwise it will cost me a lot more later. That is legally extortion, by my understanding
[21:00]<@BC_Programming> given they haven't filed a case in 2 years, never in Canada, and the ones they did file they got their asses kicked on... hmm, I think I'll go ahead and ignore it
[21:05]<Tux2> So, just opened up the file explorer in Windows 10... the folder icons look like they were pulled straight out of Windows 3.11 and updated with modern colors...
[21:13]<@BC_Programming> I created a Richard Nixon Mii on my Wii U

[22:00]<+camerongray> Ahh, did seem familiar yeah
[22:00]<+camerongray> What makes you think that?
[22:00]<+camerongray> Other than RDP crap
[22:00]<@BC_Programming> That and his posting style
[22:00]<+camerongray> Ahh yeah
[22:01]<@BC_Programming> he's asking pretty much the exact same questions as before, and appeared right after Parapas was banned... that is really enough for me
[22:01]<+camerongray> I'll probably post in Don's
